TIDES Hong Kong
Location: Hong Kong, China
Client: LIVE NATION
Area: 1200 sqm
TIDES Hong Kong, an oceanic music escape, is anchored by the Chinese ocean goddess, Mazu, known for safeguarding sea travelers with her golden light and serene command over the TIDES Hong Kong. Inspired by her aura, TIDES Hong Kong emerges as a luminous underwater sanctuary, enchanting musicians and music enthusiasts alike. With a thoughtful blend of oceanic references and a dark turquoise palette, TIDES Hong Kong’ interior scheme aims to captivate and ensure an immersive and lasting experience. The proposed venue comprises a main event hall at Level 1 and a mezzanine level (Level 1/U) for a premium experience. It is a multi-purpose space that can house music gigs as the core, complemented by MICE use, community social events such as art exhibitions or comedy nights.
Concept
Nestled within a boat-like architecture,
the space exudes an almost mystical quality, featuring palettes of deep teal,
rich greens, and oxidized copper. Every detail is designed to immerse guests in
Mazu’s realm, offering an enchanting underwater journey from the moment they
enter.
Bar
Guests are welcomed by a sun installation positioned behind a reflective copper bar. This simple yet iconic light feature draws in crowds and evokes the serene effect of a sunset over the sea. Copper panel and a reflective stone bar top interact harmoniously with the striking starry light installation, creating a memorable experience within the venue.
VIP Lounge
The intent of this area is to fulfill multiple purposes. It can serve as a VIP patron lounge during events, distinct from the main level, function as a meet-and-greet space prior to events, or act as an independently rented venue for social club gatherings, product launches, or even stand-up comedy performances. Designed to be comfortable and inviting, these spaces draw upon intimate interpretations of the broader signature moments.
Entry Stairwell
The entry stairwell serves as one of the first experiences for every visitor. Thoughtful use of lighting and materials transforms this space into a transportive entry point, making it a moment of priority. The design features an "immersive staircase," symbolizing an ascent into Mazu’s light, achieved through a site-specific projection lighting scheme.
Washrooms
The secondary spaces, such as restrooms, reflect the overall color and material palette of the venue, providing a unique experience that embodies an underwater atmosphere. High-glossed wall treatments and polished steel hardware, combined with illusionary lighting effects, create an ethereal and immersive environment.
Conclusion
This project embodies an immersive space that serves as a sanctuary for healing and introspection. This entertainment venue delves deeply into the connection between space and human emotion, transforming into a refuge for the soul and representing a form of urban healing. It ignites a passion for art and culture while encouraging reflection and interaction.
