Fook Lam Moon︎

Location: Kingston International Centre, Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong
Client: Fook Lam Moon Management Limited
Area: 1250 sqm

“Fook Lam Moon”, one of the best-known Chinese restaurants in Hong Kong has recently been re-located and upgraded to celebrate its 75th Anniversary. The interior design scheme aims to evoke the historical and cultural origins of the Cantonese cuisine served. A sophisticated yet modern setting was derived by juxtaposition of Southern China’s architectural features and planning to give hierarchy, layers and details to the space.

“Foyer” > Reception Area
In celebrating an intimate sense of arrival, guests were greeted by a 3m high brass screen with abstract pattern. A bespoke signature motif was crafted by transforming the Chinese character “Fortune福” in different compositions to give an artisanal Chinese touch.  A glowing “rice field” wall pattern behind the reception counter further denotes the meaning of this Chinese character “一口田”.  Warm colour palette composed of oak veneer, brass, gray stone was adopted in this foyer space to conjure up a world of relaxed luxury.

“Hall” > Open Dining Area
Embracing the spirit of a traditional Southern China’s house, the open dining area is sculpted with a strong sense of visual symmetry, articulated with the architectural silhouette of a pitched roof profile. The mood is opulent yet warm created with a rich palette of terracotta carpet floor with flexible layouts to cater for different event and banquet needs.

“Room” > Private Dining Rooms
Re-imagining the traditional Cantonese touch in a palette of tea green, terracotta brown and warm gray, the private dining rooms can be configured to accommodate from 8 to 20 guests with sliding partitions to maximize the spatial flexibility. A 20-people VIP room modelled as the master room of the mansion in sheer simplicity combined with opulent visual richness.  A luxurious chandelier hanging under the relief ceiling of be-spoke motif achieves a “eclectic-chic” ambience with contemporary flair.

With the modern expression of traditions & culture, our design for this Chinese restaurant cultivates a layered dining experience and evokes guests an ultimate sense of intimacy and sensuality.
